Happy National Paloma Month 2024

Happy National Paloma Month 2024

We love the Margarita's effervescent cousin, the Paloma. It's approachable. Easy to drink and can be leveled up.

While no one really knows the origins of the Paloma, we do know that paloma means dove in Spanish. A clue to the Paloma's mysterious start? Some say it is a nod to a Mexican folk song from the 1860s. A few think it is due to the whitish color of the drink. Many give credit to a bartender who denies creating it, while others point to a recipe pamphlet from the 1920s.  Could a woman named Paloma been the inspiration?  With historians not even agreeing,  looks like will never know.  Regardless, we are glad someone had the idea for such a delicious and refreshing recipe! A combination of tequila, grapefruit juice, agave, soda and a lime all come together with the perfection known as a Paloma.

In celebration of National Paloma Month, Palomas are $2 off during our September Happy Hour. That's Monday through Friday from 4pm to 6pm.

Enjoy a House Paloma made with Orendain Reposado, a Fiesty Paloma made with our house infused jalapeño tequila.  Or, this month's featured Paloma....the Tromba Paloma.

Tromba is an additive-free tequila produced in the highlands of Jalisco.  The blue agave is harvested after 7 years, allowing the plant to mature in the high elevation and rugged conditions where it builds complex flavors. Propriety yeast and a mix of traditional and state of the art equipment is used and innovative cooking method have been developed to create a distinct caramelization of the agave. Tromba's slower fermentation process results in a lower yield, richer in flavors and aromas. Tromba Blanco's light sweet citrus aromas and balanced smooth texture with vibrant flavors of pineapple, caramel and refreshing mint leads to a clean finish and a perfect Paloma.

Once again Tromba Tequila is devoting a portion of their September sales to help replant endangered agave.   All you and I have to do is enjoy Tromba Tequila in our Paloma or other cocktail this month. It's a delicious and easy way to help them save wild agave. For more information on their sustainability efforts, you can visit this link: https://tequilatromba.com/sustainability/

Enjoy a Paloma on your next visit to the Inn.
