How to Use the Almost House Margarita Kit

How to Use the Almost House Margarita Kit

A refreshing treat after gardening or any time.  Grab one for Dad!

Just add equal parts your tequila and Franklin Inn Almost House Margarita Mix over a glass packed with ice.  The only thing that will be better would be sitting at the Inn drinking a house margarita.

Your tequila + Your House + Our Mix over ice = A great margarita.

It's an easy recipe: combine equal parts your tequila (or zero proof alternative) and our mix, shake, and pour over a glass packed with ice. Our kit includes a pint of mix, salt, and a lime. It should make you about four margaritas.

We used fresh orange juice and organic agave to give our mix the familiar orange taste that goes so well with tequila, lime and salt in a margarita. There is no need to add anything else. However, if you'd like to elevate your margarita, try adding one of the following to taste:

Triple Sec: If you're using a blanco tequila and prefer a bright, sweet, refreshing margarita, Triple Sec is the classic choice.

Cointreau (John's favorite): A premium version of Triple Sec, Cointreau is drier, crisper, and more intense. It adds excellent orange character without excessive sweetness. Keep in mind that it has a higher alcohol content than most Triple Secs.

Grand Marnier: A sophisticated option featuring a richer, deeper experience with Cognac, orange essence, and sugar. Expect notes of vanilla, oak, and warm citrus. It pairs especially well with reposado tequila. Because it changes the character of the drink, it may not be the best choice if you're looking for a bright, citrus-forward margarita. However, those who enjoy Old Fashioneds or experimenting with spirits often love the added complexity.

A limited number of margarita kits are available each week at the Cranberry Township Farm Market most Friday nights from 3pm to 7pm.
