When John and I were in Mexico this Summer staying at Patron Hacenda's La Casona guest house, I was happy to see it. Patron XO Cafe had been discontinued during the pandemic and we were unable to get it for you. But, there it was in the lounge and also on the coffee bar. At the time, we were told it would be available in PA "soon." And, here it is back at the Inn for you (and me!). In addition to being great in coffee and as an after dinner drink neat, it makes for a great espresso martini. Better yet, have our Espresso Marg-tini. It's Patron XO Cafe, tequila, cold brew coffee, and a splash of agave. A great cocktail.I'm told by Patron that it is vegan too. So, if you avoid espresso martinis due to dairy abstaining, try this.
Patrón XO Cafe is a 70-proof coffee liqueur that combines Patrón Silver Tequila and Arabica coffee beans which according to Food & Wine is sourced from the states of Veracruz and Chiapas. Another cool fact is that some of our staff of Mexican heritage are from Chiapas. As if I needed another reason to drink it, I love the Chiapas connection between this liqueur and Franklin Inn staff.
I'm not sure how long this re-release will be available to us, but I will enjoy it while it is here. I hope you will love it as much as I do. Maybe they will keep it around for us a good long while.
